CHAOS THEORY HAS BROKEN UP . ITS COMPLETE HISTORY IS BELOW:
Dan and Lorenzo formed Wolf in september 2003, because we had recently started our instruments and just wanted to jam a bit. We got bored of jamming very soon and aimed to play at Hearing Aid 2003, the rock concert the school holds every christmas. For this we needed a bassist - there were no free bassists around, so we enrolled a friend of ours called Adam. He was a skilled acoustic guitarist, but unfortunately, he wasn't nearly as skilled on electric, having never played on one. He learnt the basics quickly, for a long time borrowing Dan's second guitar, a Washburn. We started practising songs by Nirvana, and other easy stuff which we could play quite well with two guitars, without needing a bass. We were then lucky enough to come across the fact that our 10 year friend Jon Evans sang in a choir! We instantly 'auditioned' him, and found that he was wonderful at singing any song in the rock spectrum. So after playing a few songs, it was time to decide what to play for hearing aid. We decided to audition with In Bloom by Nirvana, and Seven Nation Army by White Stripes. Seven Nation Army was more appriciated by the organizers, resulting in the decision to play it at Hearing Aid, although i preferred in Bloom for obvious reasons. A week before hearing aid, we played to about 100 people at assembly, and it was a disaster. Jon forgot to switch on his mic, Adam suddenly fell out of tune for inexplicable supernatural reasons, and Dan snapped his middle string. nevertheless, we kept on playing till the end, but greatly demoralized. The day of hearing aid came, and we found ourselves in front of 500 odd people (We only played to half the school) and having to play next. Adam was pissin himself so much that his light blue jeans were pitch black by the time we walked out on stage. Dan seemed like he couldn't care less, Jon kept concentrating hard until the moment he opened his mouth to sing, and Lorenzo was laughing in fear at the prospect of the assembly expirience repeating itself today. But it didn't happen. We played perfectly well, both in the afternoon and evening show, and the crowd never stopped clapping to the memorable riff of 'Seven Nation Army'. The lineup for our first ever show was:
Dan Entwistle - Lead Guitar We had done our first concert, and we were full of hope for the band. The period that followed was the most succesful Wolf had yet seen: Dan bought an Epiphone Les Paul Special, the one he has now, and Lorenzo got an amazing electric drumset which would later mean easy recording and long hours of band practice every weekend at his house. We played a lot of songs, including 'Set Me Free', 'Sweet Child of Mine' and 'Otherside'. We even acquired a bassist, a shorty called Peter who had just come from Scotland. So the period from january to march 2004 was very happy and eventful. It was in March that Lorenzo's skills as a drummer started spreading through the school, which meant he got to play with many people and was even invited to play permanently for the band Sweet Pandemonium. Dan wasn't happy about this, since Sweet Pandemonium were the other major band in our year and our rivals, in a way (But better at the time, I daresay.) This caused a bit of unease in the band as well as confrontations between Dan and Lorenzo, who nearly got kicked out in May 2004 but was saved by the other members of the band. We 'signed' a peace treaty in which Dan agreed that Lorenzo could have multiple bands, and Lorenzo joined Sweet Pandemonium, which is now called Siberian Kiss and write their own songs. We then started playing again, some velvet revolver, some jamming, but not too much. We also changed our name to 'Chaos Theory'. We then had to break up for the summer, and we didn't see each other again until semptember.
During the summer Lorenzo went out and bought an 8 channel mixer and learnt the basics of music tech, as well as improving a whole load by performing drum duet solos at camp in front of hundreds of people. By the first week in September, Chaos Theory had got together again and was discussing their plans for the coming year. Adam bought a Van Halen signature electric guitar, and Pete, who hadn't been contributing to the band since early 2004, was convinced to join us for the recording of a cover album. 25 Semptember 2004 was a grand date for Chaos theory, because, they not only played for the first time after the summer holidays, with a new found freshness and will, but also recorded 'Slither', the first song for their cover album. After this recording session, there were a few weeks of relative inactivity - Dan had a 3 week trial period with band-in-the-making 'Chrysalis', playing exclusively the song 'hang on' by Seether. Dan soon quit this band, claiming they were not tasteful in music or skilled enough. For the next month and a half, Chaos Theory had the odd practice now and then, filled with continuous discussion about what the third song would be. When a decision was made on American Idiot, some time in late November, disaster struck. Lorenzo was playing a drum duet with a friend one day when Dan strolled him and asked him what he thought of a huge Thursday practice at school. Unfortunately, Lorenzo had already reserved the room that day for his other band, and at that point, Dan stormed off. Next day, he communicated that Lorenzo should leave the band. At Lorenzo's refusal, Dan left the band, taking Adam and Jon with him. Chaos Theory was no more, a year and two months after its formation.
Aftermath
Lorenzo was left Chaos Theory-less and without remorse, devoted all his time to his other band, Siberian Kiss. Peter was left without a band. Dan, Jon and Adam joined with Zeeshan Malik and his team of musicians who were looking for a new Chrysalis line-up. The line - up for cover band Chrysalis Theory, which is now looking for a new name, is:
Dan Entwistle - Lead Guitar Bio by Lorenzo Levrini, Ex - Drummer
Adam McMillan - Rhythm Guitar
Lorenzo Levrini - Drums
Jon Evans - Vocals
During october, we started thinking about hearing aid 2004. We were going to make this one much better then the White Stripes experience of last year - and as we were informed that each band would get the opportunity to play 3 or 4 songs, we were ready for some big action. We all agreed to play 'Slither'. Lorenzo and Dan were also decided on 'Sweet Child of mine' which features some excellent guitaring and a stunning solo, which would provide dan with his dose of adrenaline for the night. We had space for one or maybe two more songs, but even without choosing them we had a problem. Slither and Sweet Child of Mine are in different tunings without possibility of transposition, meaning the guitarists would have to both swap their guitars (Tuning on stage has never been permitted at hearing aid). Dan has two guitars, but Adam, who had finally bought his Memphis, felt he never had enough gear for the band's liking (He was constantly being compared to Dan, who has a multitude of guitars, effects and amps.) and refused to share the hearing aid experience with an instrument that wasn't his, despite several guitar borrowing offers he received. This led to Dan being very angry at Adam, and Lorenzo billing him as 'Damn Egocentric'. What annoyed us most, is that his 'use my own guitar' mentality was more important to him than his long-lasting close friendship with Dan, playing in hearing aid, or even being in the band. As of October 14th, 2004, Adam quit Chaos Theory, only to beg to be let back in 3 days later, realizing he had made a mistake. Dan decided to give him a second chance.
